Adverse events to medicines
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in Australia and the Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority (Medsafe) in New Zealand receive adverse event reports for medicines including vaccines.
Early warning of safety concerns with therapeutic products
This joint project to establish a Trans-Tasman early warning system to advise healthcare professionals and the public of potential safety signals for medicines and medical devices is now underway.
Recall actions
The project to establish the Recall Portal, where information on medicine and medical device recall actions in Australian and New Zealand can be found, was completed in April 2013.
Integrated GMP audit capability
This project is intended to develop integrated capability across TGA and Medsafe to conduct inspections to assess Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
Over the counter medicines processes
The TGA and Medsafe are reviewing the business processes for the evaluation of over the counter (OTC) medicine registration applications, to reform the current system, and develop a common approach in both countries.
