On 10 December 2003, the Australian and New Zealand Governments signed an agreement to establish a joint regulatory scheme for therapeutic products.
Negotiations between the countries were suspended in July 2007. From 2003 to 2007 an Australia New Zealand Therapeutic Authority website provided information on the proposed scheme. This site has been archived and is available from the TGA website archive.
When viewing archived pages via the historical consultations website, please be aware that the information is provided to assist research - it may contain references to activities or policies that are no longer current. Refer to the full archive disclaimer.
The existing Treaty between Australia and New Zealand allowed both countries to resume negotiations at any time and work has recommenced on a joint regulatory scheme.
